Creating a difference in how we support young people requires input from people of diverse backgrounds, with a well developed capacity to view the world from various perspectives.
Sandra is Chief Executive Officer of Trauma Assist and Wide Bay Sexual Assault Service – the primary organisation behind the Youth Assist initiative. Sandra has acquired a wide-reaching portfolio of skills and experience in community through her volunteer Board roles which include crisis housing and Chamber of Commerce and her extensive commercial experience holding financial, operational, and general management/director roles in a diverse range of sectors including retail, distribution, wholesaling, and manufacturing.
Sandra is passionate about using her unique skillset in developing, supporting, and assisting Wide Bay Burnett region’s business and community to flourish. Youth Assist is a natural extension in developing economic prosperity for individuals, community and region. As a working Mother of two young men, Sandra understand the complexities of raising a family and the life skills that need to be wrapped- around young people to ensure they have strong foundation to go out and thrive. Sandra also understands that life is very rarely linear and that all families will struggle at times to provide the support required. This underpins Sandra’s commitment to community.
Allen is an educator with an international business background who can provide the Youth Assist program with a valuable perspective on linking curriculum to youth leadership development and economic imperatives such as employment and entrepreneurship. Allen is Founder of Camp Taveuni, and the Girls’ Own Safari program in Fiji and is passionate about developing strengths in young people by providing a wider perspective which sparks inspiration, innovation and leadership.
Allen’s practical business experience and philosophy is backed by a strong academic background. He holds a Masters in Education, Bachelor of Social Science (Advertising & Marketing), a Graduate Diploma of Education and a Graduate Diploma in Youth Counselling.
